35 Week Dr. Visit

Well, we had our 35.5 week Dr. visit today!! It went really well and we are making progress!

We met with Dr. Francois and she performed an exam to see how I am progressing at this stage... I can't believe it, but I am already 60% effaced!! I guess at around 70% you would start dilating, so I am ahead of the game! She said that I am further along than most first time moms at this stage of the pregnancy.... exciting!

She then proceeded to go over a few hospital items and told us to pack our bags!! I have already put a bunch of items together for the hospital, so we just need to finish up a few last minute things. The Dr. is predicting that Rowan might not make it to full term, that he might come at 38-39 weeks... we couldn't believe it! I guess with all the contractions I have been having, it was kind of on my mind, but I didn't actually think she would give us this news! Of course, nothing is ever certain and he could just as well be on time or late, but early is even better!! This would put his birthday at the end of September instead of beginning of October.

We are now far enough along to have Dr appointments every week! We will go and see the Dr. again late next week, to early the following week. I asked her when our last ultrasound is... she said not for another about 3 weeks, so he might be here before we get the chance to have another one! I kind of wanted a prediction on his weight as it gets real close, but I can settle for seeing him in person too! She is still guessing he will be a high 6 or low 7 birth weight.

All in all, a great appt!! His heart sounds good, and except for mommy's aches and pains and weight ballooning up to a whopping 140 pounds (so strange for me!)... everything is right on track. I have gained 23 pounds so far.. crazy! I am really hoping to stay under 30, so all those late night goodies might need to come to an end for a while :) As long as Rowan is happy and healthy in there though, I can handle the weight.. we want him to be nourished!

We are just so excited to meet our little Rowan.. maybe sooner than later!! :) I will update again on Monday with my 36 week picture!

  1. So exciting!! :) At 36 weeks I was 80% effaced and 3cm, but Bree didn't come until 2 days before her due date! HOWEVER, she came EXTREMELY fast (4 hours from 1st contraction to having her in my arms). My Dr said with the early dilation and effacement that it usually means either they come early or you have a very quick labor! Either way is good for you! Congrats on little Rowan!! You will be a great mommy! :) Can't wait to see pics!
