First Bath!!

Tyler and I decided to give Rowan his first bath last night... thought maybe it would soothe him to sleep a little better that night... we were right! He loved the first part of it as long as we kept his washcloth warm, but HATED getting out and being cold (can't blame him!).. we swaddled him up real quick with his hoodie towel and he was good to go! All in all we feel it was successful! It will be fun to do bathtime with him when he gets a little bigger! The tub is still really big for our 6lb 8 ouncer!! Here are a couple pics I shot when he was getting bathed, before and after...

Loves his duck cover, thank you Laura!

"this isn't too bad"

Not too sure if he likes it!

Definitely does NOT like getting out and being cold!

All swaddled and ready for PJ's!

We will try again next week!!

Nama and Grandpa Schlumpf Come to Visit

Tyler's parents came to meet little Rowan about five days after he was born... they stayed for a long weekend and it was so nice to have them!! It is so special for me to watch Rowan with his grandparents, I have a very strong bond with mine and I can't wait to see his special connection with his. Here are some pictures from our weekend together!

So much fun!! Thank you for coming Nama and Grandpa, look forward to you coming again for Christmas!

40 Weeks and SO IN LOVE!!!

I know, I know, I am WAY behind on posting, but hey, this whole newborn thing is much tougher than I thought in regards to finding "me" time.. so I am attempting to update now, while watching the baby monitor and realizing that my little love is starting to stir... which doesn't give me much time!!

Rowan Paul Schlumpf was born on September 27, 2012 at 3:18pm.... he weighed 6lbs 5 oz and was the tiniest thing I have ever seen! It was such a ride bringing this little man into the world, let me tell you!! I went through almost 12 hours of pre-labor, followed by induction, followed by more labor pains, followed by stripped membranes, followed by the Dr. telling me Rowan had flipped, was now sideways in my tummy and we would be in a C-Section in a matter on hours!! What a surprise! He had been head down for WEEKS and was all ready to come out, then decided to abort the mission!! I have to say though, it was quite the relief... being that labor pains are NOT pretty and he obviously was not coming anytime soon.

Tyler and I had already made one visit at about 4am to the hospital because we weren't feeling Rowan move too much and we were worried he might be under stress. Through countless contractions, we made our way to the maternity ward only for them to monitor Rowan, say he was fine and tell us to go home and wait til I was "more uncomfortable"... NICE!! The inductions for that night were way behind and they didn't have room for me apparently... so home we went! The next AM I still wasn't feeling that things were moving along fast enough so that is when Tyler and I decided to go in to my Dr... which is when they realized that Rowan had moved! She scheduled my C-section for about 3pm that day and Tyler and I were off to the hospital again!!

Long story short, the surgery was scary for me, but it went so fast and in a matter of minutes I heard my little bean SCREAMING!! What a set of lungs our little man has! He was and is SO beautiful, Tyler and I could not believe he was finally here. What an amazing day...

We were in the hospital for four days.. it was a painful recovery along with a couple unexpected infections, but we made it through! Rowan was such a good baby in the hospital... hardly fussed and just LOVED to be cuddled. It was so fun to have that time with just the three of us to bond. We are however, thankful for the visitors that came to see us while in the hospital (my parents, sisters, friend April, Jenny and Angella)... such a nice surprise!!

It has been a whirlwind of NO SLEEP, running ragged, taking turns eating, showering, etc.. for these past two weeks, but we wouldn't trade them for the world... we just love our little man so much!!

WE LOVE HIM
