Helmet

Rowan being born with Tortecolis, ended up with a flat back of his head... to the extent where we needed to get him into a helmet. After going through THREE doctors (orthopedic), we finally settled on one not too far from our house.

Insurance was slightly annoying about this (typical) and it took us almost TWO months to get him to the right place and fitted for the helmet... found out late in the game that the place we were first going to would not accept our insurance (after we already had consult and ALL his scans)... went to the second place that couldn't get him started in a reasonable amount of time.. and ended up with a place that we like that works really well with Rowan.

He will wear the helmet 23 hours a day for atleast 3-4 months to try and round out the back of his head... it has already been a week and the progress already is amazing! We can already see the roundness coming back, so we are hopeful this process will work!!

before (hard to tell, but back completely flat)

Week one COMPLETE!!

We are looking forward to seeing the progress continue!! He is being such a trooper with it, through the sweating and only one hour break, we are so proud of him!!

5 Months

Well, Rowan is 6 months, but since I forgot to post his 5 month stats.. I will do so now!

5 Months:

- eating solid foods! So far doesn't really like them... would rather eat oatmeal!

- Is super goofy!! Loves to giggle and make funny faces!! Laughs A LOT when:
1. walking with him up the stairs
2. Tickling him
3. Making funny faces at him
4. Playing peek a boo
5. Randomly...

Gosh we just love him!!

- Lots of tummy time! Is getting so much stronger and therapy is going really well! Starting to grab more with his left hand and more range of motion with his neck! So proud of him!

- weighing in at about 14 lbs and 25 (ish) inches tall!! Big boy!!

- LOVES to chew on his hands ALL the time!! Two teeth ready to pop through, but not yet!!

- NOT good at sleeping, but will sleep in the swing, on a lap, or in the carseat for quite some time!!! Little booger!!

- LOVE him

Ingrown Toenails

Totally gross title of this blog, eh? Well, poor little punkin had BOTH big toes with ingrown nails a week or so ago... ugh..

I'm thinking his ingrown toenail problem could be the result of two things:

1. This guy... (gets them ALL the time)
We will forgive him because he's so darn handsome...

2. This...
picture this ALL the time without footies on...
It looked so painful (didn't take a pic)... but after a super frustrating Dr. visit (absolutely NO help.. will be finding new Dr. ASAP).. we called Auntie Nurse Rozzy and she asked her pediatrician from the hospital for advice... within two days... all better!!!

Thanks Auntie Rozzy for helping out our little booger!!

I will leave you with some adorable pics of Rowan crossing his cute feet in the car, this is his new thing and he rarely lays down or sits in his carseat without crossing his feet! Love him!!

check out his new shoes from Nama!! They are so cute!

Rowan and Solid Foods!!!

We started our little man on some solid foods at about 4.5 months... I know all you moms out there will say, WHAT?? It is supposed to be 6!! We have our reasons and it really worked to keep his tummy full and sleep a little better, so on we went! He started with all different kinds of rice cereal and oatmeal...

as you can see, he was AOK with them!! He especially LOVES the oatmeal with bananas!!

Then we moved on to some bigger and better things (well he didn't totally think so, but it is getting more tolerable each time!)

This is NOT a face from food (obviously), but looks awfully close to the face he made with  his first bite of sweet taters!!

Getting used to sweet potatoes

Not too sure about daddy feeding him this foreign food
survived!!!

He also has had acorn squash which he doesn't totally like either (along with avocado)... hopefully something will suit his fancy soon!!!

Next week: green beans...

Catching Up

ok, ok so I am well aware that I am NO GOOD at keeping up with blogging about Rowan!! I have so many social media sites now to upkeep that I am in WAY over my head!! Can't believe I haven't posted since he was FOUR months old!! Here are my reasons: (in case it helps..)

1. This child DOES NOT SLEEP... or atleast it takes about 1-2 hours to get him to fall asleep (in the swing... with the pacifier, and quiet hearbeat noise, darkness, blanket.....) NOT AN EASY TASK! By the time he actually gets to sleepy town I am totally exhausted and usually am still in PJ's, have not eaten, cleaned the house, made bottles, etc... NO TIME FOR BLOGGING!!

2. I forget that I have a blog! I am so avid at taking pictures of Rowan on my phone that I forget to update the blog part.. oops!

3. Just no time. (Have NO clue how I will keep up with more than one child at this point...)

With that said I have a bit of updating to do... so here we go!!

I will leave you with this adorableness since I want to break my posts up into events and not just one HUGE post:
